Love That Never Rests: Patsy Brown's Story

From the very beginning, Patsy Brown’s journey through motherhood has been marked by extraordinary strength, unwavering devotion, and a love that continues to pour into her family and into everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Her oldest son, Brad, was born at just 29 weeks with Trisomy 13 and spent four months in the hospital. In those early days, Patsy faced unimaginable uncertainty — unable to hold her son until he was five weeks old. Despite this uncertainty, she met each moment with love and a fierce determination to be there for her son in every way she could.

Today, Brad is believed to be the oldest living individual with Trisomy 13, a remarkable reflection of resilience and the steadfast love of a mother who never gave up.

As Patsy's family grew, so did her strength, Years later, she once again faced a difficult journey when her son Hayden was born at 27 weeks, weighing only three pounds. After suffering a seizure during a doctor’s appointment at a military hospital, Patsy was transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital, where she remained for two weeks before giving birth. Hayden spent over a month in the NICU, so tiny he was the size of an apple and only slightly longer than a Barbie doll. Once again, Patsy met the moment with courage, compassion, and a heart that never wavered.

When asked about her journey as a mom, Patsy shares with honesty, “I am very, very tired.” And yet, through it all, she speaks of her boys as the greatest gifts anyone could ever have.

She also shares the deeper truth so many mothers quietly carry. “The heartache lies in the times of watching the people you love the most suffer through things they cannot understand.”

At the center of everything she does is a love that never rests.
