Healing with a Wagging Tail
Posted: Apr 09, 2026

Sometimes the smallest moments can make the biggest difference—especially when they include a wagging tail. During a recent feeding therapy session at Studer Family Children’s Hospital, a young patient shared smiles, snack time, and a special visit with Klio, one of our beloved facility dogs. What started as “one for you and two for Klio” quickly turned into a moment of joy, connection, and encouragement.
For children working through feeding challenges, therapy can feel overwhelming. But with the gentle support of caregivers—and a furry friend by their side—those moments can become more relaxed, engaging, and even fun.
Klio is part of our Sacred Paws Facility Dog Program, which currently includes seven facility dogs serving patients across Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola and Studer Family Children's Hospital. Each of these dogs has been fully funded through the generosity of our donors, making moments like this possible every day. Their impact extends far beyond companionship—they play a meaningful role in helping children and adults feel at ease and supported throughout their care.
Stories like this are a powerful reminder that healing happens in many ways—and often, it comes with a wagging tail.
