Walking Toward Healing, One Step (and Tail Wag) at a Time

Zanisha received life-saving care through the ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) program at Ascension Sacred Heart. This advanced technology supports patients with severe heart or lung failure, giving them the critical time needed to rest and heal. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we are able to offer this life-saving technology right here in our community, allowing patients like Zanisha to receive the highest level of care without leaving home.

In addition to ECMO, Zanisha also found comfort through our Sacred Paws program, a donor-funded initiative that brings certified facility dogs like Luisa to support patients during recovery. Luisa’s presence provided emotional comfort and motivation, helping Zanisha stay strong on her journey.

This month, we held an ECMO Survivor Celebration right here within the walls of our hospital, honoring patients like Zanisha whose strength is a true testament to the power of compassionate care.

Thanks to our donors, both life-saving medical care and therapeutic support are available locally, allowing patients to heal surrounded by family and community, without ever having to leave home.
